How’s It Going?

Quite relaxed so far, nothing really crazy to begin the day. I spent the morning dealing with emails and going through articles to work on, which is a typical routine of mine. There is something rewarding about getting through the inbox in the morning, cleaning it out, and getting myself prepared for the rest of the day. Going through articles requires more concentration, but I enjoy the combination of administrative and thought work; it prevents the morning from getting too routine. When that was complete, I ran through a few chores in the house. I did the dishes, wiped down the countertops, and did a few additional tiny jobs. It wasn't anything significant, but just enough to have a good feeling that the space is refreshed and prepared for the rest of the week.
I also got a little current on news. It is normal for me to catch up and find out what is going on in the world before getting into teaching and researching of my own. It overwhelms me from time to time, but I like to stay up to date anyway. Then I did relax a little before getting into the rest of my day. I attempt to keep mornings balanced; productive without being so busy that I walk into the afternoon exhausted. Now I am preparing to go to work. As a general rule, I teach in the afternoons, so that is when my energy and focus really come into high gear. Teaching energizes me and enlivens the day. I like having a rhythm transition from quieter work alone in the morning to a more active rhythm of being in class. Overall, it's been a workable and quite easy day so far; systematized enough to leave me feeling productive yet relaxed enough so that I didn't feel frazzled.

This morning started early, with the alarm clock pulling me out of sleep before the sun had fully stretched across the sky. I got myself ready, gathered my things, and stepped out the door to catch the bus. There’s something grounding about that first moment outside — the cool air, the quiet of the street, and the small anticipation of what the day might bring. The bus ride itself was a familiar rhythm. People boarding with their coffees, headphones, and sleepy faces. I found my seat, settled in, and let the city roll by through the windows. It’s always a mix of stillness and motion — time to think, time to scroll through my phone, or sometimes just watch the neighborhoods waking up. At work, the day unfolded steadily. Tasks, conversations, and the usual ebb and flow of productivity. There were moments of focus and moments where I just had to push through, but each hour moved me closer to the finish line. By midday, I found myself grateful for the little breaks — a chance to grab something to eat, stretch, and reset. The afternoon carried its own weight, but also its small wins. Whether it was finishing something on time, helping a coworker, or just feeling like I stayed on track, those moments mattered. When the workday ended, I found myself back on the bus, this time surrounded by the buzz of people heading home. The ride felt different — more tired, more reflective. Watching the streets in reverse, I thought about how the day was not extraordinary, but it was mine.Sometimes, a day is just about showing up, moving forward, and letting the rhythm of buses, work, and small pauses carry you through.

Today’s my birthday. It’s only 8:45 am so I’m not sure I have 300 words to describe my day yet. My dog licked my toes this morning which was kinda funny and not a usual practice. My husband got me the only breakfast item left from the Buzz cafe ( a 7000 calorie piece of quiche) after I woke up telling him I’m need to eat better and exercise. That said -it may be the highlight of my day - although I did process a criminal background check on myself for the state so I can obtain my nursing license here. Luckily I now have confirmation I’m not a criminal here. Since we just moved here to Philly from Miami - I don’t really have any friends yet but people are nice and I think I can make some especially since I’m not a criminal. I do really miss my friend Shanna though because she would have made me a bad ass breakfast and if she and her husband ever get divorced I’m gonna leave mine and marry her. I have gotten a few other messages from friends and relatives. My niece London sang me a happy birthday song which asks are you 10 are 20 are you 30 and so on - you get the point - it’s pretty long now to get to 63 with that song but considering the alternative a good vibe. Lastly I was supposed to see Cat Stevens tomorrow ( my present to myself ) I’ve been waiting for 50 yrs to see him live - but thanks to Marco Rubio State Dept visas have been delayed for the band - because we should all be afraid of a man singing the song Peace Train - right ? Anyway that’s all I’ve got for today. Maybe I’ll try to find a yoga studio and some cake - I mean kale. No I really mean cake.

Upon waking to the glorious rays of the golden dawn sunshine I immediately hopped up out of bed facing east and screamed at the top of my lungs: "RA, RA, RA". After this I smoked about 23 joints and took 23 gravity bong rips. I then feel into a deep reggae groove, the dub chambers of King Tubby echoed me into oblivion. Upon my return I smoked another 23 joints. After this scraped about 23 "CASH 4 DIABETIC SUPPLIES" wheat pastes - just the last four digits of the phone number. Is this 300 words yet? Fuck. Please regard the following Bugs Bunny's: BUGS BUNNY, BUGS BUNNY, BUGS BUNNY, BUGS BUNNY, BUGS BUNNY, BUGS BUNNY.

Today I got ready for a film premiere in South Philly to support my friends who run a family-owned film company based in Philly and Tennessee. Pennsylvania is a great place for those trying to break out into the film industry, with a variety of locations, diverse companies, and passionate people. When I first moved to Philly, I wanted to be closer to the entertainment opportunities in New York City, and within my four years I’ve grown within my theatre roots, dabbled in film, and have met likeminded people who are equally passionate about performing arts and being creative.

Day was, as most days, started too early. Job interview i had today fell through. What’s the point of an opting for a *$75* temporary license if nobody’ll hire you with one? My dog was pretty psyched though, she got to go on a longer walk than usual. 1 lengthy walk around the neighborhood & i’m back home. weird blue hang tag on my door. but not weird enough for me not to scan the qr code on it. now under-slept, over-caffeinated, and over-medicated & most importantly writing about my day. for the sake of my bottom lip, i’m gonna go get some cigs now. then i’ll navigate the hellscape that is Indeed.com. other than that, well i don’t know yet

My day was solid. I had some positive movement on some deals we are trying to get over the line to grow the business, which I have been working on daily for months. I was able to go to yoga to get my physical/mental exercise checked off for the day. Lastly, I saw a movie with my friend which was hilarious. All in all, I am thankful for today
